József Mélyi

curator, art historian, art critic

After graduating from the University of Economics in Budapest, he graduated from the Eötvös Loránd University with a degree in art history.

He was previously the editor-in-chief of the online art magazine Exindex and taught at five universities in Budapest. He is currently an assistant professor at the Department of Fine Arts Theory of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts and since 2006 he has been a lecturer at the Moholy-Nagy University of Arts. He has been publishing studies and reviews in Hungarian journals since the mid-1990s and is the curator of several exhibitions.

His main areas of research are the 20th century and contemporary art, public art, and institutional critique.

At the conference, he is an invited commenter on MS/M.
